Hi, Yes, I did get the 565 working by pulling the power switch/shutter button assembly out of my E2. That's all that was wrong with the 565. Well, it needed a little cleaning of the front element in the ROS and such, but everything does work properly. :) I also found out that the power switch in the...

Hi, There are a couple of compatibility issues with these cameras and memory cards. Basically, you need to have 5v flash (all the current stuff is 3.3v) and it needs to have an obscure 'hi-speed' pin asserted or it won't work. The ironic part is that all the newer flash memory is much faster than th...

Hi, You'd need to add a SCSI adapter card to the PC first. Most PC's don't come with SCSI adapters, although some servers do. Once you have an adapter, it'll probably have a 68-pin connector on it. Then, you'll need the correct cable, which are readily available. That 25-pin connection on the 460c i...

Hi,

I found out that the seller is, indeed, Pete. :)

Now, who wants to pony up the dough for such a rare item? ;) ;)

Hi, I think this is the one Pete Meyers had. I note that this seller is pointing to Pete's website as a reference in the auction text. Pete had this one up on eBay a couple months ago, and I don't know for sure it's the same, but have a sneaking suspicion that it is. I had talked with Pete about buy...

Hi, On the E2, large memory cards won't work at all, giving a card error. At the time, the largest card available was 48 meg, and the one that shipped with the E2 was 15 meg. The largest one I have that works with my E2 is 96 meg - my 128 meg is useless. The E3 came along a few years later, and by t...

Hi,

It'll take a Type-I or a Type-II PCMCIA Card. The Type-III is way too thick to fit.

You can't use a CF card in an adapter. The camera won't read it. You need one of the old PCMCIA ATA Hi-Speed Flash cards smaller than 128 MB. Ebay is probably your best bet for one of those.

Hi, I clearly recall Nikon having the D1 on the market for $5000 and several dealers also offering the E3 for $10000 at the same time. This is when I was trying to figure out just what was what in the digital photo world in the fall of 1999. that was also when I found the E2 I have on the used marke...

Hi, Maybe they made 100-200 units for each of the 10 sub models. That would put the total production in the 1000-2000 range, and make both production estimates valid. ;) Oddly enough, the very first ESLR I ever saw in the field was a QV-1000c at Watkin's Glen International Raceway around 1990. I did...

Hi, I've noticed int he past that this seller tends to buy stuff in one auction, then relists it with a slant towards the collector's market. I tend to ignore auctions from him when I see them, since I know that they're overpriced. Personally, I always check a seller's buying history to see if there...

Hi, Yes, it has been a bit slow, but then, I've been rather busy lately, working lots of long hours - the latest project is nearing it's ship date, and, of course, lots of things don't work quite as they should. It's just business as usual in the world of R&D. :P I *still* have not messed with t...

Hi, Stand back! Bidding war in progress! At least, *I* am standing back. I mean, both brands with the same serial number. How odd. I'd have thought that the prefixes would be different by brand. Shows how much I know. ;) No, no time to play with the busted E3 yet. I was even over at the shop Tuesday...

Hi, Well, I suppose there's a possibility of the cell leaking, although I have yet to see a lithium cell leak in all these years. Personally, I'd not worry about removing it based soley on a fear of leakage. I think it's more likely that harm will befall the thing from going after the battery than f...

Hi, Interesting seller. It's a new guy with several auctions, most of which don't go together (like a Fujix DS-515 and a Starrett firing pin gauge). Looks like someone buying up surplus stuff and trying to make a few bucks selling it piecemeal on eBay. I'm not interested, although I see where it has...

Hi, The lithium battery is used to supply power to static RAM when the master power is off. I'd think that all that's used for are option settings and the time-of-day clock. So, I'd say that once you set tht thing up the way you like it, and then power it off, those settings (and the TOD) are lost a...
