who needs one of these? I don't know why the seller says its a Telephoto Transmitter :!:

These things are often referred to as "telephoto transmitters" (or wirephoto transmitters). Nothing strange or unusual about that. That's exactly what it is. (Not to be confused with telephoto lenses.)

Who needs one of these? These days: Nobody. In the pre-digital age: News photographers needing to transmit photos back home. I've travelled with such units myself. People complaining that they need to carry a laptop in addition to their camera gear should try to travel with one of these!

Why would anyone collect these things? Same reason why people collect old rangefinders, Nikon F's and early digital models :-)

I have a few such transmitters myself, by the way, including the NT-1000.

UPDATE: The transmitter sold for $149 (BIN) to a forum member. 1 bid.
