Kodak 620C

Post by nikonnl » Sat Dec 13, 2014 9:04 am

Hi friends out there!

I've found and bought a pristine Kodak 620C with charger, new battery and AC adapter. It works fine, but I can't open images in whatever Nikon View version nor in older software like PhotostackerPro. Is there anywhere some Kodak software downloadable so I can enjoy this nice camera?

Thanks a lot,

Nico

Hi,

There is Kodak's own PhotoDesk. You can download it here:

http://www.kodak.com/global/en/professi ... =photoDesk

Also, Adobe Photoshop 6 on up will do it with their Raw plug-in. IIRC, that was a separate thing for PS6 and 7, but came with CS1 (aka PS8). I have CS1 on an old XP box and CS3 on a Mac G5. I use a 760c and a 720x still. I never had a 620, but I am quite sure it is in there.

I never made the switch to Lightroom, but I do think the same Raw support is in that as well.

Of course, the Kodak program is free. It isn't as useful as PS, but works well enough. I have it on both the XP notebook (my field processor) and the Mac G5 as it does let one open all the shots in a folder in a contact sheet, and PS Raw converter is used one shot at a time.

In practice, I use PD to see all the shots, and PS to work on whichever one I choose from the sheet. ;)

Thanks Stan,

the 620 is saving images in TIFF only which I can't open in regular imaging software. I am certainly going to try your advice.

Nico

Hi,

Yeah. The 500 and 600 series save their images Raw in a file with a TIF file type. There is a low res thumbnail you can see, but that is about it without a Raw interpolator. The later 700 series changed the file type to DCR. The file structure is still the same.

For future reference, you can also use draw, as described here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=328
