I picked up two packs for my E3 from Ebay for $20 each. They hold a good charge, but were "as-IS". I figure in the worst case you can take the pack apart, buy a generic EN-4 which is the same 7.2V, and transplant the cells. I have an MH-16 from my D1, which was a LNIB outfit for $600.

DCS100

By the time that Kodak was advertising and showing the DCS"100", the DCS200 was not far behind. I looked at a DCS100 at a Computer show in Washington in ~1991. When I lined up the funds to buy one, the DCS200 was available. It was just much more practical for field tests and other experime...

DCS100 pricing.

The DCS (DCS100) is listed in Popular Photography's Dec 1991 issue with a price tag of $20,000 for camera and electronics pack. I suspect you can run the price up quickly with accessories. I paid $12,400 for my DCS200ir body. With accessories, ie ext battery, ext disk, lenses, the total cost for the...

CF in Kodak DCS420 cameras.

Welcome Oscar! Hope you get the DCS420c soon! Mine arrived from the same seller and works just fine. Visit DSLRexchange to see some shots. Now you will just need a Nikon E2 or E3 to use for wide-angle shots and you are done! I found that the CF card in the PCMCIA adapter worked in my DCS420c after u...

Go For it!

Somehow I seem satisfied in the Early Digital Nikon Department.

But I have this urge to get a Minolta RD3000! HELP!

Kodak Battery Pack Serial Numbers.

Kodak "should" be able to tell you which batteries are at fault, from which contractor, and dates of the bad batteries. This is how Dell ran their big AC Adapter recall and how Kodak ran their AC adapter recall. Kodak "probably" can further narrow down "real" recall iss...

Jarle,
Congratulations!

The Dec 1990 and Dec 1991 issue of Popular Photography lists the QV1000c in its survey of Electronic Still Cameras. They also include some others that I had forgotten about.

Fujix really made a push for the digital storage card early on.

You wife had to drag you out! Same thing happens in the Smithsonian. The new Air&Space Museum near Dulles has several cases of cameras used in airborne/spaceborne photography. The ESC was not there. Nice write-up. I remember when the original Sony Mavica was announced in 1980 or so. My Boss brou...

The DS505a is OVER $300! Glad I got my E3. If anyone has them to sell, this is the time! I never realized that Nikon made so few, and I guess it is "out of the bag" now. Kodak made a lot of DCS cameras. For $75, my DCS420c gets used around the swimming pool. Plenty on EBay to replace it if...

And the high bidder for the Nikon E2s is also a longtime collector; with an EBay name with "m609" in it, I would say Jarle has the long-time collectors convinced that the E-Series cameras are key to a complete collection. BTW: Today I was using the D1x to document some prototypes, includin...

Well, I do not own a Nikon F from each production block, but I do have a few. And I would agree that the Nikon D1 is the "equivalent" in the digital age of a Nikon F. The E series was more like a Nikon I, a real learning experience that was not ready for prime time. Now Nikon just needs to...

Nikon E3 with AI'd (Factory Converted) Lenses.

I tested the E3 out with my wide-angle lenses yesterday and learned that the camera does not meter with AI converted lenses. AI converted lenses change-out the aperture ring for ones with AI ridges and ADR F-Stop scales. BUT they do not add the extra internal lugs that passes extra information on to...

Pssttt... Stan, I think the reference was to the Ebay name "nikonf" bidding on the Fujix. I read some of his feedback and he looks like a longtime collector. I know what you mean about looking back. I picked up a Minolta Hi-Matic 9 when I was 11. That was 1969. I still have it and it still...

D1 vs D1h and D1x

I have two D1x's at work and bought them when they first came out. Last month I bought a Mint in Box D1 for home for $600, with 2 batteries and charger. Honestly, once you get the "Custom Settings" where you like it, there is not much difference in actual use. I set the "C"ontinu...
