Re: "Kodak / Nikon F3 DCS Camera System *New in Case*"
On a tangent, whilst looking it up, I found this article from a newspaper photographer who used digital cameras back in 1993, and who recalls one of his friends using a Kodak DCS (although it's identified as a Sony): http://blogs.phillynews.com/inquirer/sceneonroad/2008/10/photography_and_the_philli...

Alas, it seems to have been terminated early. I guess he must have had an offer he couldn't refuse!Webmaster wrote:Will be an interesting auction to follow.

"Kodak / Nikon F3 DCS Camera System *New in Case*"
Holy cow: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kodak-Nikon-F3-DCS-Camera-System-New-in-Case_W0QQitemZ280435971712QQ "Complete Nikon F3 DCS camera system in travel case, Camera is in Mint condition in case, never been used." Perhaps as a consequence of this, there's no indication as to whether it works or...

Re: Kodak DCS 560
There is one thing that puzzles me. In the properties menu there's an option to "enable sharpening", which can be on or off. If I recall correctly, this was part of the JPG processing system in the DCS 520 - you could select sharpening, output resolution and quality, and whether the JPG sh...

Re: Leica dream - I'll give away a M9 (if I can)
Hi Ashley, Any special reason you're using an Olympus lens on your Canon-Kodak? (I didn't even know that particular combination was possible, but I see there are plenty of adapters available. I learn something new every day!) Jarle I was impressed by a series of images here: http://www.16-9.net/len...

Re: Leica dream - I'll give away a M9 (if I can)
I was reminded of this number plate, which I often walk past on the way home from work: http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/5796/3n8b0335.jpg I realise that it spells LIECA. It could be that LE8CA or LE1CA or L81CA etc are illegal under UK law and this was the next best options, or perhaps the owner ca...

Kodak DCS 560
As mentioned in a previous thread there was a DCS 560 on eBay in the UK a while back, and I bought it. In general it's almost exactly the same as the Canon D2000 I used to own, with the same strengths - fast operation, quirky but no-nonsense interface, good histogram display, solid camera body - and...

Re: Polaroid is back
That sounds wonderful. But I'm worried that Kodak might take heed of this and reintroduce Kodachrome, in which case the boxes of Kodachrome film that I am hoarding in the fridge and in the garage and the outdoors toilet and the attic will suddenly become a foolish waste. Damn you, Polaroid, for list...

Re: DCS Acquire vs ACR vs DCS 420
Hi, When I had an 11 MP FF Canon 1Ds-I, I found that I much preferred the images from the 6 MP, APS-H Kodak 560 - especially when printed larger than 8x10. Yep. Odd, isn't it? This is an interesting coincidence - there's a DCS 560 on eBay at the moment, and after doing a bit of Googling about it I ...

Minolta RD-175 on eBay
No less. It's #330366458480 and it's a "buy it now" auction for £50! Plus £8 p&p. There's an article about it on this very website, which doesn't move me to part with £50 for the camera. It's sold with all the accessories, but "as is", which suggests to me that the battery ha...

Re: DCS Acquire vs ACR vs DCS 420
I generally download the images via an old Windows '98 laptop, but I also have an old Macintosh Powerbook that use SCSI, and I have connected the camera that way. I've updated the clock as well, and also the firmware. I thought that this might let me use Compact Flash cards with the DCS 420 when run...

Re: Kodak DCS 760M (!) on eBay
Tangentally, there's also a DCS 420M as an auction, starting at about £130, #110442610060. It's based on an N90s so presumably is relatively late production. The battery is flat, and so it is sold "as-is", although presumably it works. Either Kodak over-engineered the digital side of thing...

DCS Acquire vs ACR vs DCS 420
I recently bought a DCS 420 - for £25, which is fair enough - and it's a formidable thing. The top professional digital SLRs of today boast 100% viewfinder coverage but the DCS 420 trumps them utterly, because it has 260% viewfinder coverage. Nothing from Canon can match that. Also, the sensor has o...

Re: Kodak DCS 720x (link to NikonWeb article)
"The IR-only filter for the Canon body was the hardest to come by." I had one with my Canon D2000, or at least I'm fairly sure it was the IR-only filter (if I recall correctly it had "IR" written on it in what looked like white pencil). I believe I had the "base body kit&quo...

Re: Kodak DCS 720x (link to NikonWeb article)
Coo - if only they had used the same technology in their compact digital cameras. They could have had a kind of early Fuji F30 low-light compact with a good ISO 400 at a time when most compacts struggled badly at that speed. The shot of the port is gorgeous. I have one tiny picky question. The DCS 5...
