Re: DCS 425 Digital Nikonos (NikonWeb article with photos!)

Wow! Nice find! That must be the most rugged DSLR ever. ;) It's a bit shame that nowadays special underwater cameras are replaced by standard DSLR:s in protective housings so maybe there wouldn't be much market for new digital Nikonos - or maybe there is a special underwater D2X built for US Navy, o...

Re: Serial number of recent Fuji DSLR: The Fuji IS Pro

Hi, List price of the IS Pro is 2500 euros (inc taxes) in Finland which is not that bad when compared to original list price of S5 (~2000 euros), but today the street price of S5 is about 700 euros so the IS is quite expensive in that respect. Not a camera for everyone. Externally only difference be...

Serial number of recent Fuji DSLR: The Fuji IS Pro

Hi,

I have currently pleasure to use Fuji IS Pro as my work camera. For future reference "my" IS's serial number is 73S00337. So looks like Fuji has kept same serial number system from Fujix-series.

Can you post sample images taken with 330? It has sensor about the same size as 4/3 dslr's so maybe it was some kind of public protoype for that system?

Today I made a short walk with my DCS420 just to keep battery and electronics alive. Lens I used was the 18-55 DX with Heliopan IR/UV -cut to fight the IR contamination. Files converted with my "Classic" Mac setup (Acquire 5.6.5 and PS 5 LE) and only resize and sharpening done in Photoshop...

Nasa opens image archive, includes photos taken with Kodaks

Nasa has opened massive image archive ( http://www.nasaimages.org ) and as we all know Nasa has used Kodak DSLRs from the early nineties to this date as last 760s are replaced with Nikon D2Xs's. Try "Kodak" as search parameter and you'll find a few DCS 760 photos from the orbit.

World's first digital camera (prototype) from Kodak

This is not the first time I came up with this tidbit, but the first one with a picture taken with that particular camera, on the screen of tv though. Interesting stuff and the camera itself isn't much bigger than some newer Kodak bodies. ;) http://www.geeksaresexy.net/2008/05/08/worlds-first-digita...

Using old Kodaks with old Macs

Hi all! I got a Macintosh PowerBook G3 (from 1998) last week and after finding out that it has a scsi-port I decided to try to get it working with my DCS 420. Well, today I finally got the right HDI-30<->DB25-SCSI-cable and Photoshop old enough (5.0 LE ;)). I copied the DCS Acquire 5.6.5 -plugin to ...

DCS 760 alive again

Well, I have great news: the DCS 760 works again! I powered it up with AC-adapter and after sitting half a year on the shelf without power the shutter works again at least on AC-power. Maybe the lack of power did dome kind of shutter diagnostics reset? Shutter speeds and exposure seems to be ok. Hav...

Hmm, interesting idea. Home brewed frankencamera. ;) My 'dead' (shutter failure) 760 sits on the self and I would like to sell it for parts. However I prefer domestic trade and I guess here in Finland there isn't really market for 'for parts' -Kodaks.

Half year and 5000 frames later I have somewhat learned to tame this "by engineers for engineers"-camera. When treated correctly this humble camera gives mind blowing image quality which puts Canon 5D and Nikon D3 to shame at base ISO and exposures shorter than 2 seconds. In general use it...

Re: Using the D1

Yes, the D1 is still a very capable camera, and the D1H is even better. I hope to find a nice, cheap D1H myself. The main issue with these things is the lousy batteries (compared to later models). Apparently, cheap third party batteries (sold on eBay and elsewhere) are better than the original Niko...

Using the D1

Inspired by Jarle's "Shooting with the NC2000e" I decided to take the 1999-classic D1 for a spin in the dark and wet cityscape. I mainly purchased the D1 for uv and ir work and actually hasn't used it for "normal" photography. I used ISO 800, AWB and my 'bread and butter' lens 17...

Hahhah, nice! Keep 'em coming! Oh, btw: looks like the Kodak in second ad is 410 rather than 420, red Kodak in the grip veils that.
