Thanks for the nice article. I owned also a D100 before I traded it to D2H and now I'm looking to buy one again as prices drop. Meanwhile I managed to get a decent D1 with charger, 3 batteries and ac-adapter for 200 euros.

Spotted from Dpreview:

According to the 'All Kodak Nikon models to date' -topic this seems to be a DCS 720X prototype.

The DCS 760 is dead, long live the slr/n!

Hi! My DCS 760 suffered a shutter failure at 70 000 frames and because it wasn't financially worth fixing it, I started to look a replacement. First wanted another 760, but when I discovered a slr/n with low actuations (6000) I simply couldn't resist the offer! Final price with 2 GB CF was 750 euros...

Wow! This could be one of the rarest digital bodies produced in the 2000's. Has anyone idea how much these were manufactured? Could you share some photos taken with them? The idea of 6 megapix and full frame in todays sensortechnology would mean very little noise (and massive moire). It's a pity tha...

Using Hot mirror with DCS 420

Hi all! It has been a while since my last message, mostly because I was on military service in 2006. However, I got last week Heliopan Hot mirror filter which filters out allmost compleatly IR-band and some UV-band. I desided to try it with DCS 420 and today I was out for a little spin with DCS 420 ...

Hello people, its ironic that Fuji introduces a new IR model of the S3 pro when we are talking about modifications to make one. all they did is remove the UV/IR filter. Said to be great for B&W too. I read the review in this month's(NOVEMBER) issue of pop photo magazine. Kiu Hi! It's the price diff...

Hi, ... There's a procedure to take a D70 apart and clean off the color filter array from the surface of the sensor. That makes a mono camera. ... Stan Hi! This sounds like very interesting mod. Are you saying that it can be done at home without any special experience or tools? How about shooting w...

Thanks for the tips - I'll try to cover the metal strips areas with black electric tape later on and try again to shoot some IR. I also ordered better filter so the only promblem that remains is to expose right and it means lots of bracketing with this camera. ;)

Infrared testing with Kodaks and D50

Summer is finally getting to Finland and yesterday I made quick comparison between DCS 420, DCS 760 (with IR-cut-filter removed) and my newly acquired D50. There's no doubt that DCS 760 is the best of three cameras what comes to tonality, D50 seems to have quite strong IR-cutter and with DCS 420 it ...

Some new findings: Looks like few weeks on the shelf cured the DCS420 because now every cf I try works, even the 1 GB Sandisk. The camera indicates that there would be room for 399 pics, but the reading doesn't get lower when I made several exposures, so it must be some kind of theoretical upper lim...

Hi! I got my DCS 420 (s/n 2475) with Elpac charger and complete manuals today. Battery seems to be in good shape and the unit seems to work perfectly. Luckily the camera has 98-version of the firmware so I tried 5 different CF-cards with Sandisk PCMCIA-adapter. All cards were first formated with DCS...

Re: D1x capabilities with non-CPU lenses

Hi! I used just non-CPU-Nikkors with my Kodak DCS 760 (F5 based) over the first 10 months I owned the camera and I guess that D1x is close enough (F100 & F5 -based). I understand that the only modes available are "M" and "A". I take this to mean metered manual exposure and aperture-priority automati...

DCS 760 pics: Christmas lights in Downtown Helsinki

Yesterday was the darkest day in a year and sadly we don't have much snow on the souther coast of Finland. Luckily since WW2 is the Aleksanterinkatu, main shopping street in Helsinki, been decorated with christmas lights at the beginning of the christmas shopping season. Yesterday I spent a couple h...

Hi, Thanks for your reply. After reading it, I'm also convinced, that this is a camera issue, but I'll test another cf later. I discovered this iproblem a year ago when I first time played with continuous drive (1,5 fps KATHUNKATHUNKKATHUNKKATHUNK ;)), after that I have made 20 000 actuations (62 00...

Strange continuous drive issue with DCS 760

http://turbaani.1g.fi/kuvat/Junat/041019/041019_02.jpg/full This is quite typical result when shooting with continuous drive with my 760. The first picture is perfect, but the rest look more or less like this. Same thing happens also in S-drive when taking picture right after another. Everything el...
